Mid-Level Fire Protection Engineer

Working with other members of our team, you’ll help grow our business by expanding our client base and playing a key role in winning new projects. We seek a mid-level Fire Protection Engineer with at least eight (8) years of experience to join our rapidly growing High Performance Facilities team. With a focus on federal government agencies including GSA, Military bases, and Veterans Facilities this person can be located remotely.


Job Description

Working tandemly with other staff Engineers, this person will lead the fire protection effort and can look forward to the following responsibilities:

  • Deliver Fire Protection Engineering subject matter expertise.
  • Independently create and evaluate design analyses, conceptual designs, program requirements, calculations, equipment selection and layout, and system selection and layout for the following:
    • Fire Suppression Systems
    • Fire Alarm and Mass Notification Systems
    • Clean Agent Systems
    • Smoke Management Systems
    • Life Safety Code and Building Code Analysis including site inspections and surveys.
    • Evacuation maps design and assessments
  • Collaborate in a design team environment, working together with engineers, designers, and project managers.
  • Take ownership of small projects or portions of larger projects.
  • Moderate level interface with mission partners, clients, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to prepare, validate, and deliver key design efforts.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering (ABET accredited).
  • Willingness to learn; ability to work semi-independently as well as on teams; self-motivated.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in Fire Protection Engineering
  • Certified Fire Protection Engineer (CFPE)
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearance requirements, US citizenship is required.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in Fire Protection Engineering for federal government agencies
  • Moderate-to-advanced knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), International Building Codes, Life Safety Codes, and NFPA Codes and Standards.
  • Have the willingness and ability to obtain and maintain Clearance.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks is a plus.
  • Up to approximately 25% domestic travel will be required.

Mid to Senior-Level Architect – Starting Part Time and moving to Full Time

We are seeking a mid to senior-level Architect with at least seven (7) years of experience to join our rapidly growing team. With a focus on Federal Government Agencies, Military Bases and Facilities, and Medical Centers. The candidate may work onsite or hybrid in Lakewood, CO or Grand Junction, CO. This position would be considered part time at 20-30 hours per week with the expectation of moving to full time at 40 hours per week within 3 to 6 months.


Job Description Summary

We are looking for a candidate with a willingness to learn, and that can create construction documents for commercial and government facilities and mixed-use buildings. This would include providing the preparation of design and technical solutions for a variety of project types and sizes, review of developed construction documents, investigation of existing conditions, and assisting in the development of building and campus standards.

While the position’s role is primarily focused on architecture, typical planning projects may include feasibility studies, zoning and policy analysis, coordination with local governments and stake holders, annexation, site plan submittals, development code writing, public process and collaboration with affiliated engineering services.

The successful candidate requires a knowledge of building materials, constructability, building systems, building codes, and must possess strong problem solving and technical skills. The successful candidate should be able to perform duties with general direction and be able to work independently and collaboratively toward design and technical solutions. The successful candidate needs to have good oral and written communication skills to collaborate with diverse staff including engineering, maintenance, research operations, and others.


Responsibilities:

  • Review and coordinate in-house and outsourced design projects by reviewing and developing. Statement of Works, Construction Drawings and Specifications.
  • Review and provide design and technical solutions for a variety of project types and sizes at various campuses and leased facilities based upon Client's standards, user requirements, IBC and NFPA codes.
  • Assist with construction administration of fast-track construction projects.
  • Assist with estimating project costs to help establish reasonable baseline budgets and schedules including contingencies.
  • Assist with investigating, creating, and documenting client's standards and guidelines for material finishes, life safety, campus master planning, buildings, and workspaces.
  • Ensure the project conforms to client requirements and architectural program, code requirements, and company mission.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge and coordination of building systems including electrical, mechanical, fire safety, and sustainability.
  • Ability to analyze existing project conditions, costs of similar past projects, and research project materials as needed.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, MS Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Proactive, passionate, well-organized, and detail oriented.

Minimum Qualifications:

7 years relevant and professional experience with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree or 5 years relevant experience with Master of Architecture Degree. (Equivalent relevant experience may be substituted for education.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Government and Medical design and/or remodel experience.
  • Experience with BIM/REVIT.
  • Federal sector experience preferred.

NETA Certified Test Technician

The NETA Certified Electrical Field Test Technician will inspect, test, collect data and maintain electrical equipment at client sites. The equipment includes switchboards, panelboards, transformers, cabling etc. Technicians will work with electrical equipment, such as SF6 & vacuum circuit breakers, pad mount transformers/GSU transformers, grounding, instrument transformers, and other protective devices.


Responsibilities:

  • Low, Medium, and High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing.
  • Testing medium-voltage cables – Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot.
  • Power transformer testing – Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
  • Test both electro-mechanical, microprocessor and solid-state relays.
  • Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum equipment functioning.
  • Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean equipment and components.


Qualifications (Required):

  • Previous level 2, 3 or 4 NETA Certification.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Able to work overtime and travel up to 85%.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
  • Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, able to lift 70 lbs.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in NETA Testing.
  • General PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel.

Position Overview:

    We are seeking a Senior HVAC Mechanical Engineer to provide advanced capability in the design and analysis of complex mechanical and control systems, as well as testing and balancing performance. This role will require a high level of technical expertise and the ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on complex commercial and industrial projects.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed load estimating utilizing computer software simulations. This includes knowledge of building construction materials, meeting outdoor air requirements for indoor air quality, and understanding internal heat loads (e.g., lights, computers, equipment, etc.).
  • Apply and select various types of HVAC equipment, including air handling units, fans, coils, condensing units, and furnaces.
  • Apply and select various types of boilers and chillers, including four-pipe systems.
  • Design and layout commercial and industrial duct systems, including supply, return, exhaust, ventilation, and dust collection systems.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of advanced cleaning/filtration systems for high-purity areas such as labs and data centers.
  • Develop general HVAC system control diagrams and written sequences of operation. Knowledge of HVAC system controls is desirable.
  • Possess general knowledge of plumbing design, though not required, which would include familiarity with plumbing codes and specific requirements for sanitary sewer, vent piping, storm sewer piping, and domestic hot and cold-water piping design.
  • Develop construction document packages based on project requirements and application. This includes project coordination with other disciplines (structural, architectural, and electrical), directing drafting personnel, and reviewing project construction documents.
  • Write job-specific equipment and materials specifications.
  • Attend and conduct client meetings to clearly understand job/owner requirements and expectations, including project review meetings, construction meetings, and project closeout meetings.
  • Conduct on-site inspections of HVAC system installations and testing/balancing.


Job Requirements:
